Electrical....

JONESBORO — The question in the minds of people without electrical power is: “When will mine be back on.”
Called my Mom this afternoon and they still are without power.... My daughter in Trumann has hers back on so some good news there especially since she has the new little ones at home now.
Tony and I were suppose to start back on the basement today but other projects kept popping up and we never got down there today.
I spent part of the day getting my taxes done. Whew, glad I got part of it done. Hopefully will get the rest done tomorrow. I didn't want to have all the fun in one day....hahahaha

Stressing......

This pic was taken from the front Page of the JonesboroSun.com in Jonesboro Arkansas where alot of my family live. Talked to my Mom this afternoon and they are still without electricity.

Tax time again.....I always get stressed out this time of year... This year I get the added bonus of filing my State Taxes in two different states...Yee haw !! Like I wasn't stressed out enough already.

The weekend is upon us and Tony just called to inform me that this weekend will be devoted to finishing getting the basement in order.... We are moving the computer room downstairs...Not quite sure if I like this plan yet or not... The basement kinda freaks me out most of the time. It has a room down there that has a habit of turning it's own light on and off. Baxter absolutely refuses to go down there...Ya know they say dogs and cats can sense things where we can't .... LOL

Not quite sure if I will be back online this weekend or not so if not I hope Everyone has a Wonderful, Relaxing Weekend.

Snow...

We totaled out with 9 inches of snow on the ground. Baxter and I took out the Trash Can to the curb this morning and between going out there and coming back he jumped on me and knocked me down 4 times. I was covered in snow from head to foot by the time I got back into the house...LOL

Snow !!!!

Woke up to about 2 inches of Snow this morning...They are expecting another 2 or 3 inches to fall today. I switched days off with a co-woker so I am at home today.. Baxter and I have already been out in it playing....LOL
In the top picture...I couldn't get Baxter to leave the cat alone that hides in this bush....Such growling from the bush....Quite funny. I had to literally drag Baxter into the house and we stood at the open door as that cat came out and walked across the yard, still growling at us...LOL All Bxter did was whine as he wanted to play with it...Grumpy Ol' Cat....LOL

That-N-This

Patient count (census) at the hospital is still down so our hours still remain low. I work tomorrow but have Friday off. Tony has gone to Southern Missouri with his Son for a Funeral. So it is just Baxter and I dining in this evening. Heard from my old friend Max in Australia today, he is doing good considering he had surgery again on his hand.
I can't help but shake my head at alot of the people I work with, talking about the first African-American elected into office...Apparently they have just by passed the fact that he is half White-American... They scowl at me when I mention this into the conversations...hahahaha
I go Friday to the local nursing home to talk to Human Resources. Looks like I will be changing places of employment soon. One thing I dislike is changing jobs and starting a new one causes alot of Anxiety. They already know I cannot start until after the 17th of February because of my Doctor's Appointment.
I hope everyone is having a Good Week

Nice Day

Has turned out to be a bright sunny day here. The Electric Company is digging up the yard some more today. In fact they have our driveway blocked with their equipment. Baxter is ever present at the front window keeping a wary eye on them. When I let him out in the back yard he goes up to the fence growling at them...LOL
The little red fence in the corner of the yard in the pic is where they have a huge hole dug and tomorrow they will be tearing up that whole corner of the lot, laying down pipes.
Going to be a big mess come Springtime.

Sunday Fun ????

"The cure for boredom is Curiosity. There is no cure for Curiosity." Dorothy Parker

Well there might be a cure for curiosity...I was in the basement earlier trying to straighten up some more and the curiosity got the best of me about an Cabinet that I have not been into since I moved here. It is way back in a dark corner of the room with various boxes in front of it. I am hoping it is empty so I can store things in there. I work my way through the boxes and move them so I can peek into this cabinet and just as I open up the door, something makes a rattling sound and springs off of the top shelf and bounces off of me. You have never seen someone skedaddle over boxes and rush to the other side of the room like I did. Eyes bugging out and heavy breathing I stand still listening for a scurrying sound. Nothing. I strain looking over the boxes to see if I can see anything and all there is for me to see is a furry baby rattle laying on the floor. Color me Red at this point. I almost had heart failure from a baby's rattle. Whew !!!!

Enough fun for one day...hahaha

Tony and I have been quite busy today...I would watch T.V. while he was on the Computer and then he would watch T.V. while I was on the computer and the rest of the day has been spent playing Gin and I didn't win one game...LOL

I hope everyone is having a Great Weekend.

Tony brought me fresh flowers . I adore the colors! They seem so fresh and bright--they bring a smile to my face everytime I pass them.

Woke up to wind chills of -15 this morning. Brrrrrrrr.... Both of our vehicles started.

I have a long list of "To Do's" for my days off and finishing straightening the basement is still my current project.

Only In America...

1. Only in America... can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

2. Only in America... are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink.

3. Only in America... do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

4. Only in America... do people order double cheese burgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

5. Only in America... do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

6. Only in America... do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

7. Only in America... do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

8. Only in America... do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

9. Only in America... do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

10. Only in America... do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille.

Brrrr. We are back into winter again. Thursday it is suppose to be 15 for a high and 5 for a low that night. Sure am glad I am not working that day and I get to stay indoors.

Woke up this morning and found the remains of a Lemon Creme Cake container on the living room floor. Yep that is right apparently Baxter got up in the middle of the night and had himself a midnight snack of the cake that we had forgot and left on the dining room table. hahahaha.. It has left him with alot of gas which tends to scare him and he runs all over the house from it...hahahahaha

I have the rest of this week off except for a few nights of sitting with patients.

I hope everyone is having a Great Week.

Tis Friday and I am off and it always seems like I am doing laundry on my day off :-)

Today Baxter and I are going out into the back yard and rake up the last of the fall leaves and those nasty gum balls. He has a hard time walking because they stick to his paws. It is suppose to reach 50 degrees today.

I am looking forward to the 13th of February as Tony and I have it scheduled to go home on. My Doctors appointment is the 16th. Baxter will be visiting the Kennel for those few days.

I have to work this weekend and the first few days of next week. With how the economy is I consider myself lucky to have this job. Tony's daughter is getting laid off from her job today.
Have a Great Weekend....

This is how I look and feel after my wild ride on the ice this morning...hahahahaha

The road I live on and main roads had been salted but when I hit the few hills on Dunn Road it was like a ice skating rink.

There were about 15 cars off the road and I was one of them. I came to rest on a steep embankment looking down in a Gulley. Luckily I missed hitting one car and slid right in between two others...I laugh now but at the time I wasn't. They finally salted one side of the road after about a hour and a half of all of us sitting there. No one needed medical help just a few fender benders.

The Police were directing us one by one helping us get back up on the road. Those with rear wheel drive did not make it out. I was one of the lucky ones with front wheel drive and I barely did make it out and back up on the road. I came home and called in to work and since they had enough help there to cover the floors they told me to just go ahead and stay at home for the day.

Needless to say Baxter was excited getting out of the cage early. He went right outside and slid down the driveway...

Took me forever to coax him back up the front steps and into the house. Now when I say "Outside!" to him he just lifts his head and stares at me (like I am crazy). He is not too eager to try that one again. I heard on the news this morning that if you put children's no skid socks on their paws that they can manage the ice. Right !! I can just see me trying to put booties on that 80 lb. Boxer...hahahahahahaha

Tony went back to work today after having the past two weeks off. I am off today as I sat with patients until 11 last night but I work the rest of the week in Housekeeping.

We are suppose to get some snow and freezing drizzle tonight and tomorrow. I just want a BIG snow...LOL

Beth is home and I am glad for that. Guess I worry too much especially with the distance that is between my family and me.

The Electric Company is making a lot of racket this morning, they are fixing to put the electric lines underground. Our yard is dotted with all kinds and colors of flags showing where they are going to be digging.. This could get quite messy..
