Sunday Fun ????

"The cure for boredom is Curiosity. There is no cure for Curiosity." Dorothy Parker

Well there might be a cure for curiosity...I was in the basement earlier trying to straighten up some more and the curiosity got the best of me about an Cabinet that I have not been into since I moved here. It is way back in a dark corner of the room with various boxes in front of it. I am hoping it is empty so I can store things in there. I work my way through the boxes and move them so I can peek into this cabinet and just as I open up the door, something makes a rattling sound and springs off of the top shelf and bounces off of me. You have never seen someone skedaddle over boxes and rush to the other side of the room like I did. Eyes bugging out and heavy breathing I stand still listening for a scurrying sound. Nothing. I strain looking over the boxes to see if I can see anything and all there is for me to see is a furry baby rattle laying on the floor. Color me Red at this point. I almost had heart failure from a baby's rattle. Whew !!!!

Enough fun for one day...hahaha

Tony and I have been quite busy today...I would watch T.V. while he was on the Computer and then he would watch T.V. while I was on the computer and the rest of the day has been spent playing Gin and I didn't win one game...LOL

I hope everyone is having a Great Weekend.

Tony brought me fresh flowers . I adore the colors! They seem so fresh and bright--they bring a smile to my face everytime I pass them.

Woke up to wind chills of -15 this morning. Brrrrrrrr.... Both of our vehicles started.

I have a long list of "To Do's" for my days off and finishing straightening the basement is still my current project.

Only In America...

1. Only in America... can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

2. Only in America... are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink.

3. Only in America... do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

4. Only in America... do people order double cheese burgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

5. Only in America... do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

6. Only in America... do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

7. Only in America... do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

8. Only in America... do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

9. Only in America... do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

10. Only in America... do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille.

Brrrr. We are back into winter again. Thursday it is suppose to be 15 for a high and 5 for a low that night. Sure am glad I am not working that day and I get to stay indoors.

Woke up this morning and found the remains of a Lemon Creme Cake container on the living room floor. Yep that is right apparently Baxter got up in the middle of the night and had himself a midnight snack of the cake that we had forgot and left on the dining room table. hahahaha.. It has left him with alot of gas which tends to scare him and he runs all over the house from it...hahahahaha

I have the rest of this week off except for a few nights of sitting with patients.

I hope everyone is having a Great Week.

Tis Friday and I am off and it always seems like I am doing laundry on my day off :-)

Today Baxter and I are going out into the back yard and rake up the last of the fall leaves and those nasty gum balls. He has a hard time walking because they stick to his paws. It is suppose to reach 50 degrees today.

I am looking forward to the 13th of February as Tony and I have it scheduled to go home on. My Doctors appointment is the 16th. Baxter will be visiting the Kennel for those few days.

I have to work this weekend and the first few days of next week. With how the economy is I consider myself lucky to have this job. Tony's daughter is getting laid off from her job today.
Have a Great Weekend....

This is how I look and feel after my wild ride on the ice this morning...hahahahaha

The road I live on and main roads had been salted but when I hit the few hills on Dunn Road it was like a ice skating rink.

There were about 15 cars off the road and I was one of them. I came to rest on a steep embankment looking down in a Gulley. Luckily I missed hitting one car and slid right in between two others...I laugh now but at the time I wasn't. They finally salted one side of the road after about a hour and a half of all of us sitting there. No one needed medical help just a few fender benders.

The Police were directing us one by one helping us get back up on the road. Those with rear wheel drive did not make it out. I was one of the lucky ones with front wheel drive and I barely did make it out and back up on the road. I came home and called in to work and since they had enough help there to cover the floors they told me to just go ahead and stay at home for the day.

Needless to say Baxter was excited getting out of the cage early. He went right outside and slid down the driveway...

Took me forever to coax him back up the front steps and into the house. Now when I say "Outside!" to him he just lifts his head and stares at me (like I am crazy). He is not too eager to try that one again. I heard on the news this morning that if you put children's no skid socks on their paws that they can manage the ice. Right !! I can just see me trying to put booties on that 80 lb. Boxer...hahahahahahaha

Tony went back to work today after having the past two weeks off. I am off today as I sat with patients until 11 last night but I work the rest of the week in Housekeeping.

We are suppose to get some snow and freezing drizzle tonight and tomorrow. I just want a BIG snow...LOL

Beth is home and I am glad for that. Guess I worry too much especially with the distance that is between my family and me.

The Electric Company is making a lot of racket this morning, they are fixing to put the electric lines underground. Our yard is dotted with all kinds and colors of flags showing where they are going to be digging.. This could get quite messy..
